-Provide first level support to support center at the network level.
-Oversee the day to day operation of the network, configuring various
hardware/software/documenting changes.
-Analyze/solve problems in communications systems, if necessary
contacting the appropriate vendor to resolve issues.
-Perform analysis and capacity planning; make recommendations to
improve services.
-Manages service levels of the network: including network reliability,
availability and serviceability.
-Analyze and interpret reports from data systems in order to fine tune
network.
-Manage changes in the network, planning and implementing changes:
analyzing RFP's (Request For Proposals), ordering equipment and
software required to support the systems, working with contractors for
cabling and system installs, overseeing implementation of equipment
and configuring switches and routers (Port/interface activation,
security updates/modifications).
-Coordinate outsourced technical support with equipment installations
at new locations.
-Monitor and maintain network security architecture including
firewalls, (CheckPoint) VPN, PKI, SSL and remote access points.
-Maintain security for company's internet presence and resolving
network security related incidents and contacting legal authorities if
necessary.
-Maintain servers responsible for carrying data infrastructure and
provide required upgrades including security.
-Analyzes business requirements of locations to determine the most
appropriate services, recommending and implementing solutions.
- Makes recommendations to management regarding enhancements that will
contribute to improved data network service levels and recommend
changes in technology that will lower the company's operations costs.
-Evaluates new technology in the areas of Wireless, WAN, VPN, LAN, and
Internet.
-Analyze network traffic for protocols usage profiling and/or
troubleshooting with provided tools.
Education:
- B.Sc Degree in Computer Science or a community College Diploma in
Networking:
- MCSE or CNA or CCNA certifications would be considered an asset, not
a necessity.
Technical Experience:
- 3 years overall with a minimum of 2 years recent and related working
experience performing a similar role in Wireless, LAN/WAN, VPN &
Internet Technology
- Windows 2000/2003, Unix, Checkpoint Firewall, Internet Security,
hands on working knowledge of technology from Cisco (Switches/Routers,
EIRGP), Microsoft, Bell or Nokia.
- Strong understanding of CheckPoint Firewall with a sound knowledge
of security technologies
- Strong technical troubleshooting, analytical and problem solving
skills.
- Excellent knowledge of telecommunications technology and its
applications.
- Practical knowledge of project management and tools associated with
it
- Experienced at working with outside vendors (Equipment suppliers)
- Experienced at working with outside contractors to oversee
installation and maintenance of systems
- Experienced at resolving IT related technical security problems
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communications skills: French language fluency is an
asset.
- Strong planning and organization skills, Strong interpersonal and
team player skills, Strong negotiation skills
